For Earth Day this year, which took place on April 22nd, Kelley Blue Book made a list of the Best Eco-Friendly Cars on the market for under $40,000, compiling hybrid, plug-in hybrid, and electric cars from across the auto industry. The list included the Honda Accord Hybrid, the acclaimed hybrid version of Honda’s popular mid-size sedan.
KBB.com made a few different lists for different car categories and the Accord Hybrid made the 10 Best Hybrids list. KBB cited the Accord Hybrid’s well-integrated powertrain as well as its comfort, convenience, and high resale value for its decision to include the vehicle. Notably, it is the most powerful sedan on the list and the only one with horsepower rated at over 200.
The Accord Hybrid has been refreshed for the 2017 model year, bringing better fuel economy than the previous year, as well as more features and amenities. It also comes with the next generation of Honda’s two-motor hybrid powertrain. The 2017 Honda Accord Hybrid is getting some exciting upgrades including design changes and technology additions. This new model gets 49 mpg in the city, which is impressive even for a hybrid. The new Accord Hybrid is bound to be a great car for virtually any driver.
According to Forbes, the 2017 Accord Hybrid design will feature a revised front and rear fascia. This includes a more pronounced grille, with an expansive look and bright accents. It also has LED lighting—with Daytime Running Lighting (DRL)—and fog lights to add a sporty appeal. The Hybrid also gets unique blue accents and light housings, as well as distinct colors for this model.
“The Accord has always been one of the sportier vehicles in the midsize sedan segment, and even though it wears a ‘green’ label, the Hybrid features several elements that continue to bolster that trend,” said auto writer Karl Brauer at Forbes.
The Accord Hybrid design will also have a more rigid and lightweight body thanks to ultra-high-strength steel and an all-aluminum hood. Amplitude Reactive Dampers also work to control steering and handling, giving you better response. Best of all, the lithium-ion battery system has been shrunk over 30 percent, which increases space for cargo and passengers. There’s nothing quite like the new Accord Hybrid design.
The new Honda Accord technology features make it the most advanced Accord ever offered in the U.S. New features have been added for 2016 including Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. In addition to more tech, the Accord receives some styling updates you’ll be sure to love.
Apple CarPlay and Android Auto enhance driver-to-car connections and offer smartphone capability through the Accord’s entertainment system, HondaLink. The new technology allows you to access apps previously only available on your phone, and puts them at the tip of your fingers. The new systems increase smartphone integration and ultimately keep drivers safer because their eyes are not on their phones.
In addition to Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, the Accord receives a new 7-inch display audio touchscreen interface and Honda Sensing will be available on all trim levels.
The Accord also gets some major styling upgrades including a sportier front and rear end, LED fog lights, aluminum hood features, bigger grille, LED taillights, and 19-inch wheels.
