How to Wax Your Vehicle: A Starting Guide

Wax Your Vehicle

If you recently purchased a new Honda from Brighton Honda, you no doubt want to take good care of it. Taking care of your car is just as important on the outside as it is underneath the hood. To protect your car from paint damage, rust, and corrosion, you should wax your vehicle every three to six months. Not only does a good polish protect your car, but it makes it look pretty darn good, too.

Step 1 – Gather Supplies

You’ll need an orbital buffer—easily obtainable online for as low as $30—buffing pads, buffing compound, as well as a kit with polish, wax, and microfiber cloths.

Step 2 – Buff

Look over your vehicle’s exterior for areas with scratches or obvious damage. Smooth plenty of buffing compound over these areas, spreading it evenly with the buffing pad. Then, turn on your buffer and work over these areas in circular motions

Step 3 – Wax

Place a new buffer pad on your buffer and apply the wax by gently pulsing your buffer, rather than leaving it on. Leaving your buffer on as you did with buffing may cause the wax to cake on unevenly. Complete one section of your car at a time, and then remove the wax using circular motions with a microfiber cloth. Repeat this on one section of your vehicle at a time until you’ve achieved a new, polished look all over your car.
